Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens to get closer to a building that is far away from me.

I would use a prime lens to take a photo of something that is really close to me.

I would use a wide-angle lens to take a photo of a cluster of people.

Depth of Field (shallow and wide)- is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. It relates to take better photos by just taking a picture of one object, making the test blurry,

Light (angle and intensity)-
gives shine to an object. It relates to take better photos by giving an equal amount of light to the object.

Shadows-
is an area where direct light from alight source cannot reach due to obstruction b an object. It relates to take a better photo by occupying space behind behind an opaque object with light in from of it.

Diffusion- a soft-focus in a photograph

Exposure- exposure is the total amount of light allowed to fall on the photographic medium. It relates to take a better photo by all the objects getting the same amount of light.

Aperture (f-stop)- is a hole or an opening through which light travels.  It relates to take better photos by giving the image a sharp focus,
 
Shutter speed- controls the duration of a photographic exposure. It relates to take better photos by stopping the an object that is moving.

ISO- the sensitivity to light of a photographic film.
